Tony Gooch just completed a fast solo from Newfoundland to Scotland – see Taonui.com . On what must be about my 100th crossing, here is the view yesterday about 100 miles out of Nfld from 35000 feet above his course, with a plastic glass of Cabernet in one hand and Android in ‘tother. ( could that faint blue line be the elusive jet stream?)

Lake Erie Islands
Windsurf racing for 3 days off Middle Bass Island.
Lake Erie has protected (there are so many they hardly need protection) water snakes. They only bite if you step on them.
The green algae spreads fast in late summer as the water warms, but apart from taking too much O2 from the water, does not seem to be too serious.
Racing, as always to those afloat is exciting, and to those ashore is almost meaningless: Results of 1, 2, 1, 2 vs. 2, 1, 2, 1 after first day left a tie for first. Fortunately a front arrived the next evening:
and we had good winds, bringing my favorite ‘moutons’ (white caps) and 4 ft. waves
ending on the last day with 1, 1, 2 vs. 2, 2, 1 for a 1 point margin of victory. Not unlike my last tennis match of the season ending in a 3rd set tie breaker that finally stopped at 17 to 15.
Home at last
Nice to be peacefully back from the other side of the world.

Police checkpoints on major Kualar Lumpur seemed to tone down what was setting up to be a nasty election reform rally. Color yellow was outlawed – I wore my ‘I surrender’ white Tee shirt. On the previous day I’d test worn my nice presentation orange MSG shirt without problems.
Bees needed more space -they’re breeding like flies. I gave them a new box with 8 frames of flat wax sheet. By next evening all frames have at ieast 3 mm of drawn out new hexagonal cells.

Next morning they’re still saying they need more.
